Cupra Marittima is a small friendly town of about 5000 inhabitants, renowned tourist resort of the Marches coast. It is not only known for the famous "Cera di Cupra" “wax of Cupra” of Dr. Ciccarelli or for its collection of shells which are the richest and most beautiful of the world (sea); but is extremely important also from an historic architectural and cultural point of view. In fact it boasts from Roman and Medieval archaeological areas.
It deserves to be visited: the remains of Roman civilization, the castle of Marano (sec. XII), the ruins of S. Andrea (Centre), the Civita di S. Basso (sec. XI), the Museum of the territory, the "teaching Laboratory of ecology, quaternary", the dune Marittima, the permanent crib and the numerous churches. Between the beach and the promenade there is a great cycling path for relaxing walks, cycle rides or for jogging.
The evening becomes the point of meeting of the town, to take a few steps and have fun between the stalls and the outdoor ice-cream shops.
