Grottammare is a gracious city mixed with the characteristic of the Medieval Rue atmosphere and tourists activities of the lungomare (alongshore) which transforms the city in a popular seaside resort in the centre of the Picena's coast. Grottammare has a mild climate and a large safe beach with shallow water. It was one of the major castles of Fermo since the end of Pope Sisto XIV century. We recommend you visit the church of Saint Lucia which was founded in 1597, in memory of Pope Sisto V, born in Grottammare and kept in the  Sacristy you will find the portrait, painted in oil on canvas.  The monument that was given to the Italia Garden is the work of Vito Pardo. The Church of Sant' Agostino preserves a fresco of V. Pagani, Madonna della Misericordia (Madonna of Mercy). It has the ruins of the castle dating back to the 300th and still ruined from many centuries ago.
